For the Fall 2025 semester, the University of Nicosia announces the opening of four (4) positions for admission to the Doctorate (PhD) in Biological Sciences.
- School: School of Sciences and Engineering
- Duration: 3 years (Full Time) – 180 ECTS
- Number of Positions: Up to four (4)
- Selection Criteria: Evaluation of qualifications, research proposal, and final selection through a personal interview
- Application Deadline: 23 June 2025
- Start Date: September 2025
- Language: All aspects of the programme are conducted in English (application submission, interviews, and study)

About the Programme
The PhD in Biological Sciences is a rigorous, research-intensive program designed to cultivate independent scientific inquiry and innovation. Spanning three academic years and comprising 180 ECTS, the programme integrates advanced theoretical instruction with hands-on research in areas such as molecular biology, nutrition, drug discovery, microbiome research, and environmental science. Interdisciplinary collaboration, access to state-of-the-art lab technologies (e.g., NGS, mass spectrometry), and industry partnerships ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
Graduates are equipped for leadership in academia, research, and industry, with a strong focus on responsible innovation and real-world application.

Admission Requirements and Procedures
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a closely related field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Nutrition, Environmental Health).
- Have a GPA ≥ 3.00/4.00 or equivalent.
- Demonstrate prior research experience or scientific interest in the field.
- Satisfy English language proficiency requirements (TOEFL ≥ 550, IELTS ≥ 6.5, or equivalent; not required if prior studies were in English).
- Participate in an interview with the admissions committee.
