HORIZON 2020 Projects AI4Media and PrismArch
And Any Other Projects Undertaken by the Institute of Digital Games

Applications are invited for Research Support Officers to work on research projects supported by the European Union, namely the H2020 projects “Virtual reality aided design blending cross-disciplinary aspects of architecture in a multi-simulation environment” (PrismArch) and “A European Excellence Centre for Media, Society and Democracy” (AI4Media). The Research Support Officers may also work on any other projects that are co-ordinated by the Institute of Digital Games (http://www.game.edu.mt/). The Institute of Digital Games runs a number of EU funded projects at the intersections of game artificial intelligence, computer-aided design, machine learning, evolutionary computation, affective computing and computational creativity within the domain of games, simulated environments and architecture; the candidate is expected to support research activities within these areas. Appointment is expected during early Autumn 2020.

The following general qualifications are required for all levels of employment:
• Hold (or in the process of obtaining) a minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Architecture or related fields.
• Should be able to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Have experience working with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Have good communication skills, both oral and written (an excellent command of English is essential)
• Experience in AI and machine learning, game design, parametric architecture, and media/content production will be considered a plus.

The positions are set initially for one year for the Research Support Officer III and I, and a period of up to three years for the PhD students. The positions may be renewed after a probation period and subject to the exigencies of the project or any other projects that are co-ordinated by the Institute of Digital Games. The gross salary per annum for the above mentioned posts will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The initial salary for RSO (PhD student) and RSO I (full-time programmer) attached to the posts is €20,800 per annum or €10 per hour, while for RSO III (full-time postdoctoral fellow) the initial salary is €31,200 per annum or €15 per hour.

  • Research Support Officer III – Postdoctoral fellow.
