The International Hellenic University (IHU) is Greece’s first public university where programmes are taught exclusively in English. The School of Science and Technology (SST) has been established to provide excellence in Technology Education and Research. Its activities cover research and postgraduate programmes on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Systems and Energy Systems. The School’s philosophy is to provide state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary education.

Topic:

The field of Electronic Government covers the use of information and communication technologies for the digital transformation of public administrations. It refers, amongst others, to innovative design and delivery of public services, datadriven policy design and execution, citizens’ participation in the overall public policy lifecycle, openness and transparency in public organisations.

Some indicative areas of research relevant to the post include the following:

  • Open Government and Open Government Data
  • Co-creation, co-production and collaborative governance
  • Information and data management policies and strategies
  • Digital services, portals, one-stop and no-stop government
  • Linked and big data applications for governments
  • Data analytics, text mining, opinion and sentiment analysis, business intelligence for pubic administrations
  • Evidence-based policy making
  • Semantic web applications for public administrations
  • Interoperability frameworks, policies and tools in the public sector

Requirements:

The candidate should have, or is expected to receive in a near future, a Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.

Candidates with post-graduate studies in Mathematics, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering and an interest to continue with research in business/administrative environments can also apply.

Candidates with post-graduate studies in public administration, public policy, management, economics, and an interest to continue their research in technology driven government transformation can also apply.

Very good knowledge of written and spoken English (min C1 level) is a requirement for the position.
