Call for Applications for the Master (MSc) in Counselling Psychology | Fall 2026
The University of Nicosia announces the opening of fifteen (15) positions for admission to the Master (MSc) in Counseling Psychology for the Fall 2026 semester of the academic year 2026-2027.
School: School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Duration: 2.5 years (5 semesters)
Number of Positions: 15 (fifteen)
Selection Criteria: Preselection on the basis of evaluation of qualifications & final selection on the basis of an individual interview
Application Deadline: 5 June 2026
Start Date: September 2026
Language: Estimated to take place between 15 – 19 June 2026 (Interviews will be conducted in English)
About the Programme:
The programme aims to train students in a variety of theoretical viewpoints from different fields in psychology and teach them the skills to practice effectively with diverse populations. The main goal of this program is to train students to effectively combine and use the knowledge from theory and research to practice. At the same time, students learn to use theory to design and conduct research and apply this knowledge into practice. Of utmost importance is that the students develop an ethical professional identity that will define their work as practitioners and researchers.

Admission Requirements and Procedures:
Application Form: Applicants must submit an application form for admission and start the application process to the program. The application form requests general information about the applicant, their qualifications, relevant experience etc.
MSc Counselling Psychology Supplemental Application Form: Upon completing the initial application form, candidates will need to complete an additional supplemental application form which must also be submitted for the application to be considered complete. The relevant form is available here.
Academic Qualifications: An accredited Bachelor's degree in Psychology and official Transcript.
Curriculum Vitae: a complete CV specifying all academic and professional activities.
Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must obtain at least two (2) recommendation letters from professors who are familiar with their academic work (letters from other sources will be accepted only in addition to the two references from previous instructors of the applicants). The needed recommendation letter template is available here.
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL (paper-based test 600, computer-based test 250, internet-based test 100), IELTS 6.5, IGCSE B or NEPTON level ENGL-101. Students who graduated from an English-speaking University are exempt from this requirement.
Other Qualifications: Such as other graduate degrees earned, publications, relevant seminars attended, previous practical experience etc.
Statement of Purpose: Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive outline highlighting their academic and individual competencies and state why they believe they are suitable for admission to the program, as well as their reflections regarding the expectations and value of the program for their personal advancement and career development.
Individual Interviews: Having reviewed each application and applicant's suitability against the entry criteria, an Interview Committee will determine which applicant may proceed to the interview. Interviews will be conducted in person or on-line where required.
Final Evaluation: In view of the limited number of applicants to be admitted to the program, the Interview Committee will decide, on the basis of merit and upon evaluating specific criteria, who are the most suitable candidates to be admitted to the program.
Application Fee: An application fee of €60 (non-refundable) will need to be paid upon submission of the application. Alumni of the University of Nicosia are exempt from this.
