Application Overview

Interested applicants are asked to enter their email address on the Application start page (MEEES on-line application).

A message will then be sent to the provided address, supplying you with a verification link, clicking on which you will reach again the application start page. At this stage you will receive a second message providing you with a password. At the end of this security procedure, you have username (i.e. your email address) and password to actually access the application form and start your application.

You do not need to compile the application form all at once, since, as long as you 'Update your application form', any new information introduced will remain stored in our database and thus be fully accessible for the next time you log in, when you will be able to delete, edit or modify any previously entered data.

In order to complete the application form you must upload the following documents (see Application Requirements for more detailed instructions):

  • Curriculum vitae et studiorum
  • copy of the diploma certificate (in English)
  • transcript of the attended courses and professional qualifications (in English)
  • copy of the passport or the identity card
  • English language test certificate (or waiver referring to previous courses, work experience in English speaking countries, etc...)

In addition, applicants are asked to:

  • choose in the application form the type of desired MSc curriculum (EE, ES, EEES)
  • indicate how they propose to finance themselves (see Available Scholarships for detailed info)
  • define a Mobility Path (including host institutions chosen among Pavia-UME, Grenoble, Patras, METU)
  • create the Study Plan consisting in the taught modules courses to be followed.

The online tool will automatically check if all the conditions prescribed in the section Course Structure are effectively met (i.e. minimum number of credits, etc.) and you will not be allowed to save the chosen 'Study Plan' until these conditions are fully met. Additionally, applicants should carefully read the Criteria for Study Plan Preparation specific for each host institution.

When you have finished providing all the requested data, you will be able to 'Submit your Application', and in this way confirm officially your interest in applying for a position and for a scholarship in the MEEES programme. Please make sure you do this before expiration of the Application Deadlines.

Please note that once you have submitted your application you will no longer be able to make changes. It is expected that the final results of the selection process will be available by the end of April 2016.

Finally, please note that applicants may apply to a maximum of three Erasmus+ Masters Programmes. In the eventual case that a student applies to more than three E+ Courses he/she will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus+ Scholarship.

Αpplication Deadlines

Different types of scholarships are available within the MEEES programme.

  • Partner Country scholarships (formerly Cat A) are available to Partner Country applicants. The deadline for application is March 30, 2016 at 13:00 (1:00 PM) CET.
  • Consortium scholarships are available to applicants of any nationality. The deadline for application is March 30, 2016 at 13:00 (1:00 PM) CET.

Application Requirements

The minimum requirement in order to apply for the MEEES programme is a University Degree, preferrably in Civil Engineering, that will enable the applicant to be admitted to a PhD programme in the country where the degree was obtained. Past professional experience will be valued.

Admission to the course depends on academic qualifications, past professional experience and English proficiency, all of which should be included in the online submission procedure described here.

During the online application procedure the applicant will also be asked to indicate the name and email address of three referees. The online system will automatically contact these referees in order to obtain the reference letters. The applicant may enter the system at any time to check whether the reference letters have been submitted.

The deadline for the submission of the letters of reference coincides with the application deadline. For this reason applicants are strongly advised to start the application procedure as soon as possible to provide referees plenty of time to write committed letters. Letters of reference submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Through the online application procedure, applicants must provide electronic copies of the following documents:

  • Curriculum vitae e studiorum
  • copy of the diploma certificate (in Italian or English)
  • transcript of the attended courses and professional qualifications (in Italian or English)
  • copy of the passport or the identity card
  • English language test certificate (or waiver referring to previous courses, work experience in English speaking countries, etc...)

Note that the degree certificate should explicitly indicate followed modules and marks obtained and, if the documents are not written in English, a translation of their contents is requested.

Please note that all attached documents will be deleted from our server each year at the end of the selection procedure (except for those applicants who are accepted as students to the MEEES programme).

With regards to English proficiency, applicants are asked to submit any documents that attest that they possess an adequate command of the English language. Such documents may consist of:

  • a score of at least 88 (internet-based exam), 230 (computer-based exam), 570 (paper-based exam) in the TOEFL test
  • a score of 6 or more obtained with IELTS
  • a degree obtained in an English speaking environment
  • other test scores that may be regarded as equivalent to those listed above.

For enrolment at METU Ankara, a minimum score of 6.5 (IETLS) or 79 (TOEFL) is mandatory.

If an applicant is admitted to the programme, they will be asked to send to the MEEES Secretariat by post original copies of the aforementioned documents. Please note that applicants admitted to the programme will be asked to submit a Dichiarazione di Valore (Statement of Equal Value), as well.

When required, the applicant, or indicated referees, may be contacted with a view to obtain further information. As a general rule, applicants will not be interviewed.

Finally, it is noted that the Plan of Studies chosen by the applicant will also be subjected to the scrutiny of the MEEES Applications Assessment Board. In cases where a Plan of Studies is for some reason considered inadequate, acceptance of a given application will be made under the condition that the necessary adjustments will then be introduced to the proposed Plan of Studies.
