The final application period for the joint (double degree) Master’s Program in “International Studies – specialization in European Studies” (academic year 2026-2027) is now open.

Program Overview

The MA in International Studies – Specialization in European Studies is jointly offered by:

• The School of Political Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
• The Department of Cultures, Politics and Society (Dipartimento di Culture, Politica e Società), University of Turin (UniTo)

Upon successful completion of the programme, students receive two separate diplomas (double degree):

• A Postgraduate Diploma in “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” awarded by the School of Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
• A Postgraduate Diploma in “International Studies – Specialization in European Studies” (Scienze Internazionali, profilo Studi Europei) awarded by the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin.

The programme is taught entirely in English and is open to graduates of higher education institutions who have successfully completed a first cycle of university studies (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

The duration of the programme is two academic years (a total of 120 ECTS credits).

Year 1: Courses take place in Thessaloniki at the School of Political Sciences of AUTh.
Year 2: Courses take place in Turin at the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society of the University of Turin.

Applications must be submitted between: Monday, 24 August 2026 – Friday, 4 September 2026 (midnight EET).

Required documents

Applicants must submit the following:

1. Copy of their degree(s) or certificate of completion of studies.
2. Official transcript of records listing courses taken and grades obtained.
3. Certificate of English language proficiency (minimum level C1) or proof that previous university studies were conducted in English.
4. Motivation letter (in English, up to 500 words) outlining the applicant’s academic interests, reasons for applying, and future academic or professional goals.
5. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English.

Applicants who have not yet completed their Bachelor’s degree may still apply. If admitted, their offer will be conditional upon successful completion of their degree before the start of the programme.

Selection procedure

Applicants who meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the Programme Committee will be invited to participate in the entrance examinations which will take place online on Friday 11 September 2026 (time and link will be communicated to the applicants by separate email). Candidates will be notified by email within two weeks after the end of the application period.

Candidate evaluation is based on:

• Assessment of the applicant’s academic background and CV
• Personal interview

The interview will be conducted online in English. It will consist of two main components: questions concerning the candidate’s academic and professional profile, and questions designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge of the subject area of the MA programme, namely European Studies. The questions that may be addressed during the interview are available on the MA programme’s website.

Applicants who receive an unconditional offer of admission must submit certified copies of the required documents (documents 3-5 above) either in person or by courier to the Secretariat of the School of Political Sciences of AUTh within a set timelimit.
