Υποτροφίες για PhD στο Τμήμα Ιστορίας, Κλασικών Σπουδών και Αρχαιολογίας του Birkbeck, University of London (Αγγλία)

Προκήρυξη:

The Department of History, Classics, and Archaeology at Birkbeck, University of London, England, is pleased to announce the availability
of up to four fully-funded, full-time, three-year doctoral studentships (starting in autumn 2018), to work on projects to be supervised by Professor Joanna Bourke.

Two of the scholarships need to be related to Bourke's Wellcome Trust-funded project entitled ‘Sexual Violence, Medicine, and Psychiatry’. Applications will be considered from candidates researching sexual violence in any geographical region of the world and any period from the 1750s to the present. All academic disciplines are eligible (i.e. history, law, sociology, anthropology, literature, medicine, gender studies, film studies, disability studies, etc).

Note that in future years there will be funds for post-doctorate Fellows, as well as Visiting Fellowships, associated with the ‘Sexual Violence, Medicine, and Psychiatry’ project. Researchers working in the field are invited to contact Bourke about these possibilities.
Please see the website: http://www.bbk.ac.uk/trauma/

The other two studentships are part of the bicentenary of the College. The theses must examine some aspect of the history of Birkbeck. The precise research focus will be left open in order to attract the strongest possible field. Applicants will be encouraged to consider research topics such as: the politics of higher education, comparative history of adult education; early Birkbeck; biography of George Birkbeck; the Mechanics Institute movement, the Birkbeck Bank, Birkbeck and London, migration and Birkbeck, specific research traditions within Birkbeck (i.e. crystallography, history, computer science, psychology, art, art history, law, languages, etc.).

All four awards will consist of a fee waiver up to the value of the full-time home/EU rate for MPhil/PhD degrees, plus a studentship stipend.

The due date for applications is 31 January 2018.
