Προκήρυξη:

The collaborative IZKF research initiative “The gut-liver-axis – functional circuits and therapeutic targets in health and disease” at the RWTH Aachen University Hospital is offering on January 1st, 2018 or later

14 PhD (m/f) Positions: Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Pharmaceutics or Molecular Medicine

Funding is initially available for three years, it is a part time position (25,03 h/w). The salary corresponds to level TV-L 13. The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.

Gut and liver act as a functional entity to facilitate food uptake and metabolism, structurally and functionally separate the microbiota-containing gut lumen from the systemic circulation, and ensure immunity to food-born pathogens. The major aim of this collaborative IZKF initiative is to replace the traditional organ centered view by an integrated, interdisciplinary approach studying anatomical, functional and molecular links between gut, liver, metabolism and the microbiota in relevant clinical and experimental conditions. Individual projects are outlined on our website at http://www.medizin.rwth-aachen.de/IZKF/Verbundfoerderung/GutLiver.

We are seeking highly motivated Students (m/f) holding a Master degree or equivalent in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Pharmaceutics or Molecular Medicine as well as experimental research experience and strong interest in immunology, cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, and/or bioinformatics. A strong motivation to work in a competitive research environment as well as a proficient command of English (verbally and written) are expected.

We offer a highly dynamic research environment in an interdisciplinary clinical and basic research setting with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. The participating research groups from preclinical and clinical disciplines such as gastroenterology, transplant surgery, pediatrics, cardiovascular research, immunology, cell biology, microbiology and bioinformatics are located at the academic hospital of the RWTH Aachen University with more than 40,000 students and almost 6,000 academic staff representing one of the largest universities in Germany.

The RWTH Aachen University is certified as a family-friendly university and offers a dual career program for partner hiring. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from women, disabled people and ethnic minority groups, recognizing they are underrepresented across RWTH Aachen University.
