Global challenges regarding energy and climate change, the environment, health, food safety, technology and renewable solutions, use and conservation of land and natural resources, and development of the bio-economy, requires greater effort. NMBU is well equipped to conduct further research in these fields. NMBU's expertise spans entire value chains and includes both basic and applied research.
On 1 January 2014, the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science and the University of Life Sciences merged and became –NMBU, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. NMBU has 1700 employees and 5200 students, and is currently located on two campuses – Ås, about 30 km south of Oslo, and Adamstuen in Oslo. In 2020, the new research- and education-building for veterinary science will be completed and all of NMBU will then be located at Campus Ås.

3 PhD Scholars at the School of Economics and Business NMBU Ref.no 18/01019
The School of Economics and Business, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, NMBU www.nmbu.no/hh has three positions available as a PhD student in business administration and / or economics.
The School of Economics and Business offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business administration and economics, in addition to a master's program in entrepreneurship and innovation. These degree programs have a total of approx. 650 students. The School has approx. 55 employees, and is active in research in various disciplines. About 30 PhD students are an important part of this research community.
Main tasks
PhD positions have the development of research capacity and competence as the main goal. The successful applicants will participate in the PhD program of the School. The standard time for completion of the PhD study is three years. The period of appointment is three years, but may be extended to four years if the appointee performs other tasks for the School in a total of 25 % of the time. These tasks may include teaching, supervision, research assistance, exam grading or administration, and more.
It is assumed that the research fellows' research will be in one or more of the School's main research areas: business administration, finance, strategy and management, taxes, environment, climate, energy, natural resources, development, commodity markets and food, and entrepreneurship and innovation.
Priority fields for this application are:
1. Digital business transformation processes
2. Economic valuation of marine and coastal ecosystem services
3. Climate change, land use and poverty
4. Transition to green energy technology
5. Transformation and sensemaking in Norwegian salmon farm-ing
Applications must contain an outline of the proposed doctoral research project (2 – 5 pages). Applicants may also propose their own topic for their PhD research.
Academic qualifications
Applicants must have relevant educational background at the master level, such as a master's degree in economics or business administration. Also candidates who are in the process of completing a master degree program can apply. Emphasis is placed on analytical skills, academic grades, motivation and qualifications to undertake a doctoral program. The grade B or better as the average grade of the master degree and of the master theses are required. The candidate must be able to work independently, participate actively in the academic community, and be innovative and creative. Candidates should preferably speak and write Norwegian.

Remuneration
Research fellow positions are currently placed in pay level 51 in the Norwegian Government pay scale (Currently NOK 443,900,- p.a.). Further pay increases happen by seniority. For particularly well-qualified applicants alternate salary placement may be appropriate.
