The Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) is currently seeking to recruit staff to

1-6 Doctoral Student positions based on a contract of employment for a fixed term of maximum 4 years, starting on 1st of January 2018 or according to a separate agreement.

The mission of the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) is to conduct high-level research by national and international standards, and to offer quality degree education and executive education in business and economics. We contribute to the societal impact of the University of Jyväskylä by promoting university-based entrepreneurship and innovation activities.   

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics is an active, internationally-minded and cooperative faculty in the dynamic and international University of Jyväskylä. There are 18 professorships at the JSBE, and the number of other staff is around 100. Over a thousand students study at JSBE. Each year, around 150 students graduate as Masters of Science (econ), and 13 -15 doctoral dissertations are publicly defended at JSBE.

Doctoral Student’s primary responsibilities include completing doctoral studies, doing research for a doctoral dissertation, providing teaching assistance, and other related duties.

The duties, eligibility requirements and language skills of Doctoral Students are defined in the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Proficiency in Finnish is required in the teaching and research positions of the University of Jyväskylä. However, when considered appropriate, the University may grant exemption from the language proficiency requirements. Doctoral Students are required to have a good command of the English language. 

Doctoral Students must have a relevant Master’s degree and the right to pursue doctoral studies at JSBE.

The doctoral student’s job-specific salary component is based on the job demands levels 1 - 4 (1 808,42 €/month – 2 475,31 €/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46,3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.

The positions will be subject to a trial period of 4 months.
